Sept. 9, 2008
Providence, RI - Brown Track & Field/Cross Country Coach Craig Lake has announced the addition of Jill Miller to her coaching staff for the 2008-2009 season. Miller joins Brown from Columbus, Ohio, where she attended graduate school and coached Track & Field/Cross Country at Dublin Coffman High School.
"It is terrific to add someone with National experience to help our program raise the bar of expectations and go on to the next level," said Lake. "I am excited for our team to learn from Jill in terms of what it takes to be part of a national caliber program. I have no doubt that her experience and expertise in the distance events will benefit our program greatly."
Miller graduated from Wake Forest cum laude with a double major in Political Science and Psychology. She was four-year member of the Wake Forest cross country team that qualified for four consecutive National Championships (team finished as high as ninth place) and won the ACC Championship for the first time in school history in 2002. She was named All-ACC in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races, and placed 10th at the 2003 NCAA indoor championships in the 5,000.
She has posted personal best times of 4:56 in the mile, a 9:37 in the 3,000m, and a 16:11 in the 5,000m, and was a runner-up in the 3,000m at the 2002 US Junior Championships, earning Junior All-American honors.
Miller earned All-Academic honors in both cross-country and track, and served as the vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. While she worked as a Director of Legislative Affairs for a political consulting firm in Columbus, Ohio, she coached at Dublin Coffman High School while also working on her doctorate in Public Administration from the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University.
"I am thrilled to begin my college coaching career under the guidance of Coach Lake and at such a prestigious academic institution," said Miller. "I am looking forward to adding my energy to an already strong and distinguished program and being a part of a team that is determined to achieve success.
