Bronx, NY - The Brown women's cross country team earned third place at the 2008 Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonal Championship on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Lara Heigis (Walpack, NJ) earned Brown's top time (18:06.2) and was its top finisher earning 13th place.
The youthful Brown squad gave a solid effort on the Van Cortlandt Park course, as they combined for 92 points to finish behind first-place Princeton (17) and Columbia University (80). Junior Ariel Wright (Oakland, CA) turned in an 18:13.5 performance for 16th place, and sophomore Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) posted an 18:21.5 for 19th.
Also providing solid times and rounding out the scoring was Brown sophomore Lauren Pischel (La Jolla, CA) with an 18:28.5 and freshman Ari Garber (North Falmouth, MA) with an 18:36.4. Also competing was Samantha Adelberg (18:53.4), and sophomore Michaeline Nelson with an 18:55.7.
Other Brown Bears competing was Eliza Webber posted a 19:04.6, and Caitlin Stone turned in a 19:09.8. Freshman Amanda Hermann earned a 19:22.1, sophomore Megan Fitzpatrick notched a 19:28.9 and Brianna Rogers turned in a 20:41.0.
