PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Van Cortlandt Park in New York City on Friday, Oct. 30 for the 2015 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The men's race (8K) will start at 11 a.m. followed by the women's race (6K) at noon.
The women's team finished seventh overall at the 2014 Ivy League Championship, while Dartmouth claimed the title last year.
Brown is paced by sophomore Natalie Schudrowitz, who most recently turned in a seventh-place finish at the elite seeded race at the Louisville Pre-Nationals Meet. She finished the 6-kilometer race in a time of 20:09.4 and moved up six places over the second half of the race against top competition.
The Bears will also look to veteran runners Taylor Worthy and Lucy Van Kleunen at the championship. Worthy was the Bears' second-best finisher at the Pre-Nationals Meet with a tie of 21:02.8, while Van Kleunen paced the team at last year's Heptagonal Championship. She finished 11th overall at 21:12.6 for Second Team All-Ivy honors.
The men's side took eighth at the 2014 Ivy League Championship while Princeton captured the title one year ago.
Brown will turn to a mix of talented rookies and veteran runners this time around. Freshman Eli Moskowitz led the Bears at the Pre-Nationals meet at 24:22.1, followed by senior Will Sheeran, who was second on the team in a time of 24:49.3. Sheeran was also second on the team at last year's Ivy Championship, while Stephen Bourguet led the Bears at the 2015 New England Championships.
After the Ivy League Championships, the Bears return to action for the NCAA Northeast Regional at Franklin Park in Boston.
