Women’s Cross Country Takes Fourth At Iona

BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Leah Eickhoff (Hanover, N.H.) registered a top-10 finish to lead the Brown University women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Iona Meet of Champions Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.

Brown recorded 157 points to claim fourth and finished only behind Albany (67), Iona (100) and Quinnipiac (122).

Eickhoff completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 23:09 to place 10th overall, while freshman Lucy Van Kleunen (Philadelphia, Pa.) placed 23rd in a time of 23:38.

Sophomore Sophie Mateu (Simi Valley, Calif.) turned in a 36th-place finish as she crossed the finish line in a time of 23:57. Senior Kat Grimes (Chatham, N.J.) and sophomore Charlotte Walmsley (Weston, Mass.) finished 42nd and 46th, respectively, in times of 24:05 and 24:09 to round out the Brown scorers.  

The Bears return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they take part in the Paul Short Invitational on the campus of Lehigh University.
