East Greenwich, RI- Junior Elaine Kuckertz (Clarendon Hills, IL) led all Brown runners with a third place time of 18:32.0 to help lead the women's cross country team to a first place finish with 15 points at the Rothenberg Invitational today in East Greenwich, R.I.
"I was pleased to get a majority of our roster on the starting line," said head women's cross country coach Mitchell Baker. "Some when have been waiting several weeks to make their season debut. The return of a couple of upperclassmen, notably Elazine Kuckertz and co-captain Rosie Fleming, boosted our team today and we hope that continues through championship season. Given that the course has taken on a lot of rain and conditions were challenging, I thought we moved well together and embraced the mud. We're excited to see what kind of moves we can make between now and Heps."
Following right behind Kuckertz was junior Bree Shugarts (Lewistown, PA) with an 18:38.7 for fifth, and in sixth was senior Roseanne Fleming (Westlake Village, CA) with an 18:39.1. Rounding out the Bears' scorers was senior Brianna Rogers (Moorestown, NJ) with an 18:51.2 for seventh place and freshman Abigail Jones crossed the finish line in 18:53.4 for eighth.
