Women's Cross Country Defeats All Teams at BU Invitational
Boston, MA- The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country teams turned in solid performances at the BU Invitational this afternoon. Both squads competed against Boston University, LaSalle, Marist and Northeastern, with the women defeating each of the four teams and the men defeating Northeastern, but lost close battles to the other teams.
The race at Franklin Park today marked the first competition for
many of Brown’s upperclassmen. The Brown women were led by
the group of Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ), Ari Garber, Lauren
Pischel (La Jolla, CA) and Elaine Kuckertz (Clarendon Hills, IL),
that ran strategically to finish in 5-8 place and just seconds
apart. Ramsey ran an 18:35, Garber turned in an 18:36 and both
Pischel and Kuckertz posted times of 18:37.
Bri Rogers (Moorestown, NJ) garnered 13th place with an 18:42, as
Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC) came in behind with an 18:47 for
14th. Sophomore Roseanne Fleming (Westlake Village, CA) posted an
18:50 for 15th and Rachel Baker (Redondo Beach, CA) placed 20th
with a 19:06.
Leading the men was a strong pack of John Loeser (Weston, CT),
Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL), Matt Duffy (Oakland, CA)
and Brian Schilder (Milford, NJ), who finished 14-17th places,
respectively.
Loeser, Escareno and Duffy all crossed the line at 25:38, as
Schilder ran a 25:39. Brown also had some good performances from
Anthony Schurz (South Bend, IN), who finished in 23rd with a 26:01
as Tom Elnick (Merrick, NY), Scott Friedlander (Deerfield, IL) and
Conor Grogan (Hudson, MA) each ran the course in 26:23 for 30-32
places, respectively.
Both teams will now prepare for the New England Championships on
Oct. 10 at Franklin Park in Boston.
