Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
Providence, RI- Both the Brown University men’s and women’s cross country team received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, the organization announced this afternoon. The men’s team is one of 135 Division I men’s program to receive the honor for the 2009 season, up from 110 in 2008, while the women are one of 176 teams honored, up from 162 in 2008.

Craig Lake Steps Down As Director of Track & Field and Cross Country At Brown
Craig Lake, the Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field at Brown University since 2005, has stepped down from her position to pursue other options, in an announcement made by Brown Athletic Director Michael Goldberger. Lake will be replaced on an interim basis by 10-year Brown assistant coach Michelle Eisenreich.

Fall Academic All-Ivy Honorees Announced
Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Cross Country Competes in NCAA Northeast Regionals
Boston, MA- The men’s and women’s cross country team recently competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet at Franklin Park. The men’s team was led by a 10th place finish by Christian Escareno, who earned a spot to compete in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship at Indiana State. The women’s team was led by a 17th place finish by Ariel Wright, as the squad finished ninth overall with 215 points.

Brown Cross Country Competes at Ivy League Heptagonal Championship
The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country team competed at the 2009 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park earning fifth place finishes. The men’s team was led by a second-place finish by Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL) and the women were led by a seventh-place finish by senior Ariel Wright (Oakland, CA).

Brown Cross Country Competes at CCSU
New Britain, CT- The Brown University cross country teams competed at the CCSU Mini Meet this morning at Stanley Quarter Park. The women’s squad earned second place with 42 points in the ten-team field, and the men’s team finished in fourth with 117 points in the 11-team field. While both the men and women held their top 11 runners at home to gear up for the Ivy League's Heptagonal Championships this weekend, Head Coach Craig Lake gave some of her younger runners a chance to gain experience and compete against a talented field.

Men’s and Women’s Cross County Compete at Pre-Nationals
Terre Haute, IN- The men’s and women’s cross country team competed at the 2009 Indiana State University Pre-National Invitational on Saturday. The women’s squad finished 21st in the team standings of the Women’s White Race with 571 points, and the men came in 20th in the Men’s Blue Race with 486 points.

Women’s Cross Country Earns First at New England Championship; Men Place 13th
The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country team competed at the New England Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park. The women earned the title in the 49-team field with 130 points, while the men finished in 13th with 427 points.

Women's Cross Country Defeats All Teams at BU Invitational
Boston, MA- The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country teams turned in solid performances at the BU Invitational this afternoon. Both squads competed against Boston University, LaSalle, Marist and Northeastern, with the women defeating each of the four teams and the men defeating Northeastern, but lost close battles to the other teams.

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Finish First at Blue Devil Invitational
New Britian, CT- The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country teams did an outstanding job in the 2009 season opener at the 21st annual Blue Devil Invitational at Central Connecticut State University. Both the men and women finished first at the competition despite the team’s youthful presence on the trail.
