Bears Fall To Indiana In Overtime 10-8

Providence, RI - The Bears fell to Indiana 10-8, in the fifth place contest of the Eastern Championships. Sophomore Alexis Blaxberg knotted the score at seven with 2:20 to go in regulation, sending the match-up into overtime. Brown faltered for the third time this season in the extra period as the Hoosiers outscored Brown 3-1 in the overtime quarter. The overtime loss was the third this season for Brown as the Bears went 0-3 when playing in the extra period.
Indiana led by as many as two goals on four occasions during regulation, but the Bears tallied a pair of scores in the final 3:09 of regulation to knot the score at 7-7. Brown's lone lead in the game was at 1-0.
Junior Karlyanna Kopra tallied three goals, including one in overtime, to lead Brown, while classmate Caitlin Fahey found the back of the net twice. Rounding out the scoring for Brown was Blaxberg, junior Paige Lansing, and junior Elizabeth Balassone each recording one goal. Sophomore goalie Anne Deggelman had strong showing in net for the Bears making 10 stops in the loss.
Both teams executed well in six-on-five situations as Brown was 5-for-10 and Indiana was 3-for-6.
