Women's Water Polo Falls to Princeton, 8-7, In ECAC Championships

PRINCETON, NJ - The women's water polo team dropped a heartbreaking 8-7 decision to Princeton in ECAC Tournament action on Saturday evening. Brown was led by three Bears, who each scored two goals.

After building a 7-4 lead in the first three quarters, the Bears were unable to penetrate the Princeton defense during the final seven minutes, as the Tigers scored four unanswered goals for the 8-7 victory. Senior Tori Barbata, junior Sonia Lamel, and sophomore Diana Livermore each scored two goals for the Bears, while freshman Jamie Relth added one.

Defensively, Lamel also notched two steals, while Livermore drew two kick-outs and junior Jackie Parente added one kick-out. In net, junior Keira Heggie stopped 11 shots for the Bears.

Brown will face Hartwick at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, April 6, in the semi-finals. With a win, the Bears will advance to the Championship game. A loss will put them in the consolation game.
