March 29, 2006

Santa Clara, CA - The Bears wrapped up their trip to the west coast with a 5-2 loss to Santa Clara this afternoon. Brown's two goals came from sophomore Ally Wyatt and freshman Rory Stanton.

With the Bears down 1-0 at the end of one Wyatt took advantage of a quick counter attack when she took a pass from sophomore goalie Anne Deggelman and fired it past the Broncos goalie knotting the score at one. Santa Clara built a 4-1 lead with about five minutes remaining in the game when Wyatt and Stanton teamed up for the second goal. That was it for the Bears as Santa Clara went on to tack on their fifth goal later in the fourth.

Defensively Deggelman anchored the defense making three stops and grabbing two steals. Junior Caitlin Fahey also was a force defensively recording four steals while juniors Paige Lansing and Karlyanna Kopra tallied two in the loss.

The Bears will travel to Maryland to take part in the ECAC Championships this weekend, opening the tournament against fourth seeded Wagner for a 12:45 p.m. match-up.
