Davis, CA - Playing their first game after a two-week break for finals, the #10 UC Davis Aggies (14-8) reeled off an 8-1 run from late in the first quarter into the third to take a 12-7 win over the Brown women's water polo team (5-10) on Friday afternoon at the Schaal Aquatics Center. Sophomore Lauren Presant (Poway, CA) led the Bears with a game-high four goals in the loss.
Brown held a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter, but the Aggies' Christi Raycraft scored near the end of the period to tie the game. Davis scored four goals to Brown's one in the second, including one with six seconds remaining before halftime, then scored the first three goals in the third to go up 9-3. Presant scored with 1:56 left in the third to make it 9-4, and the teams each scored three in the final frame for the final 12-7 score.
Also scoring one goal each for the Bears were senior Alexis Blaxberg (Pinecrest, FL), and freshmen Margeaux Berroth (Rhododendron, OR) and Katherine Stanton (Danville, CA), who also had four steals. Sophomore Sarah Glick (Bonita, CA) had four assists, two steals, and three drawn ejections.
The loss kicked off a stretch of three games against top 10 teams for the Bears, who will travel back south to Palo Alto for a game with #2 Stanford on Saturday.
