Santa Barbara, CA - The women's water polo team wrapped up their weekend play at the Gaucho Invitational this evening falling to #15 UC Davis 13-1 in the 15th place match-up. In the earlier match-up Brown drew #12 Michigan and fell 12-2 to the Wolverines as they were shut out in the first three quarters.
Brown was unable to take advantage of seven drawn ejections and could only convert on two of its nineteen shots in the match-up against with Michigan. The two goals came on outside shots in the final quarter as junior Claire Angyal (Sydney, AUS) and freshman Kristin Cuthbertson (Rancho Sante Fe, CA) tallied a goal a piece. Sophomore Anne Deggelman (Portola Valley, CA) was solid in net for all of the match stopping thirteen in the loss.
In their final match-up of the day Brown was once again shutout for the first three quarters. Sophomore Emily Schwartz (Miami, FL) broke UC Davis' shut out in the final quarter of play netting her first goal of the season. Deggelman made three saves in net for the Bears.
Brown will return to action on Friday March 10, when they travel to Hartwick for an 8:30 p.m. match-up.
