Brown Falls To Indiana 7-5 In Second Match Of Princeton Invitational

Princeton, NJ - The Bears gave up four third quarter goals to Indiana and was never able to recover, falling 7-5 to Indiana in the second match of the Princeton Invite. The Bears were able to cut the lead to one with 1:21 to go in the final quarter but Indian went on to score two goals with less than a minute to go for the final 7-5 count.

After exchanging goals in the first quarter, the Bears and Hoosiers went into halftime with a 1-1 tie. Brown was able to jump out to a one goal lead at the 5:39 mark when junior Elizabeth Balassone (Los Altos, CA) was able to put a two meter shot past the Indiana goalie for the lead. Indiana racked up three goal after that to jump out to a 5-2 lead at the end of three.

In the fourth Brown recording back-to-back goals from Balassone and junior Paige Lansing (Newport Beach, CA) putting the score at 5-4 with 1:21 to go. Indiana was able to take back the momentum with thirty seconds remaining when they padded their lead to two goals. Lansing added a goal with two seconds to go in the game.

Brown will return to action later this evening when they face Bucknell at 8:45p.m. for their third match of the day.
