NEW HAVEN, CT- After starting the Ivy Classic with three games over club teams, the women's water polo team picked up its first win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Harvard, in the final game. Senior Lauren McGeoch (Cupertino, CA) led the Bears with two gals, while seniors Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA), Heidi Wendt (Danville, CA), and Sonia Lamel (Lafayette, CA), junior Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA), sophomore Allison Biner (Moraga, CA), and freshman Claire Angyal (Sydney, Australia) each added one goal.
Brown took a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and never looked back. Harvard scored its lone goal on a 6-on-5 advantage, while senior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) made seven saves in net.
Following the classic, Heggie was named MVP, while freshman Elizabeth Balassone (Los Altos, CA) and senior Jeanie Ward-Waller (San Antonio, TX) joined her as a First Team All-Classic selection. McGeoch was named to the Second Team.
Brown continues action on Saturday and Sunday, February 14th and 15th, when it takes part in the Princeton Invitational.
