Woods Dubbed CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Brown women's water polo senior Kate Woods (La Jolla, Calif.) earned her second Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Player of the Week award of the season and freshman Shannon Crowley (Seal Beach, Calif.) landed on the honor roll for their performance during Brown's 12-game California trip, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.

Woods took care of business on both ends of the pool for Brown, helping the Bears go 8-4 last week. The senior scored 26 goals (2.17 per game) and snagged 33 steals (2.75 per game) while shooting .400 (26-for-65) and handing out 20 assists. Woods posted at least three goals in four straight games, including a 3-goal, 5-steal performance in a 10-9 overtime loss at Cal Baptist and a 5-goal, 8-steal effort in a 10-8 victory over Concordia.

Crowley averaged a goal and an assist per game while reeling in 22 steals during the Golden State stint. She tallied two goals, three assists and three steals against Loyola Marymount, and two goals, two assists and four steals versus Cal Baptist. Crowley finished the week with a five-steal outing in a 9-8 overtime win over Whittier followed by a hat trick in a 13-5 victory against Fresno Pacific.

Brown is back in action tonight as the Bears face Harvard in the team's first home game since Feb. 2. The CWPA showdown is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
