CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Kate Woods (La Jolla, Calif.) tossed in eight goals over two games but the Brown women's water polo team dropped a 13-4 decision to Wagner and a 14-10 setback to Hartwick at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday. The Bears fall to 4-8 on the season while the Seahawks improve to 10-8 and the Hawks climb to 10-7.
Against Wagner, Woods fired in a hat trick to go with three draw ejections and two steals, while freshman Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) scored once and snagged a pair of steals. The Seahawks shut out the Bears and built an 8-0 lead in the first half, marching away with a 13-4 lead despite a three-goal outburst by Brown in the third quarter.
Woods exploded for five goals against Hartwick but the Hawks were equally as aggressive on the offensive end, scoring five times in the first and four times in the second to jump ahead 9-6 at halftime. The Bears faltered in the third but answered with four goals in the final quarter, falling just short in the 14-10 defeat. Santiago scored twice and drew three ejections, while junior Liz Rosen (San Anselmo, Calif.) recorded three assists and three steals.
Brown returns to action on Mar. 12 when the Bears head to Connecticut College for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
