CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Emily McNamara (Winters, Calif.) and Kate Woods (La Jolla, Calif.) and sophomore Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Cailf.) scored three goals apiece but the Brown women's water polo fell to Iona, 8-5, and Santa Clara, 7-6, on the first day of the Harvard Invitational on Saturday. The Bears now stand at 4-6 overall.

In the opener, the Gaels stifled the Brown offense in two of the four quarters, and despite a pair of Woods goals in the third quarter that cut Brown's deficit to 6-5, Iona swam away with an 8-5 victory. Woods added three steals and an assist, freshman Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento) had a goal and two assists and senior Brittany Westerman (Palo Alto, Calif.) drew a team-high three ejections.

In game two, Santiago fired in a goal just 25 seconds into the fourth quarter to tie the game at 5-5, but the Broncos pulled away with two tallies in the final 2:51 for the narrow 7-6 decision. Santiago's three-goal night was complimented by three draw ejections. Woods snagged a team-high three steals and senior goalie Sarah Shin (Fullerton, Calif.) made three saves to bump her total to five on the day.

The Bears wrap up the Harvard Invitational tomorrow against Wagner at 11:45 a.m. and Hartwick at 3:30 p.m.
