Oneonta, NY- The Hartwick women's water polo team captured its eighth straight victory of the 2012 season with a 21-13 win over Brown on Friday evening at Moyer Pool.
Harwick shot out to a 6-3 lead in the first eight minutes of play, and extended the score to 10-5 heading into halftime. The Hawks continued to roll and outscored Bruno 6-3 in the third, but the Bears went goal-for-goal with Hartwick in the fourth as both squads netted five goals. But it wouldn't be enough to dig themselves out of the hole, as Hartwick came out with a 21-13 win.
Freshman Madison Pepper (Baytown, TX) led Brown's offense with six goals, followed by junior Katharine Booher (Palo Alto, CA) and sophomore Kate Woods (La Jolla, CA) with two goals each. Also scoring was sophomore Sarah Presant (Poway, CA), freshman Rebecca Zak (Carlsbad, CA) and junior Brittany Westerman (Palo Alto, CA) with one apiece, while sophomore Sarah Shin (Fullerton, CA) picked up six saves in the cage.
