Providence, RI- Freshman Kate Woods helped lead the Brown women's water polo team to a 4-1 record at the Roadrunner Invitational hosted at California State University-Bakersfield last week to earn CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week honors. Woods lit up for 24 goals, five assists, seven steals and six ejections drawn, as she led the Bears in scoring in four of the team's five games. The accolade marks her second Rookie of the Week honor of the season as she previously picked up the honor on Feb. 28.
In the first day of the tournament on March 25 against Cal Baptist, Woods notched a team-high five goals in a 14-7 loss to the Lancers. In addition, she handed out one assist, had one steal, a block and an ejection drawn.
The following day against Fresno Pacific, Woods tallied one goal, handed out two assists during Brown's 11-10 victory, and had a career-high seven goals during Brown's 13-7 win against San Bernardino later that day. She also added an assist and three steals.
During Brown's 13-11 win over Redlands, Woods netted a team-high six goals with two ejections drawn, and in the final 17-15 win against Pomona, Woods lit up for five markers, one assist, a steal, and three ejections drawn.
