Norton, Mass. – Senior Sarah Glick (Bonita, CA) tallied five goals and senior goalkeeper Stephanie Laing (Ann Arbor, MI) picked up seven saves to help lead the Brown women's water polo team to a dominating 14-10 senior day win against Harvard on Sunday afternoon at Wheaton College.
"Our seniors were impressive today and I am really proud of them," said Head Coach Felix Mercado. "It's always nice to beat Harvard, but doing it on senior day makes it extra special."
The Bears were hot from the start and jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first eight minutes. Brown then built an even more impressive lead, 7-1, with 2:23 left in the second quarter, but Harvard was able to come up with two goals in the final minute to make it 7-3 at halftime. The Bears cruised to a win from there, as both teams netted two goals in the third to make it 9-5 heading into the final quarter. Harvard was able to fire off five goals in the fourth, but the Bears held strong with five goals of their own to earn the 14-10 victory.
Laing was impressive in the net once again to tally seven saves on the day as Glick led Bruno's explosive attack with six goals, three assists and three ejections drawn. Junior Joanna Wohlmuth had a strong performance posting three goals, three ejections drawn and a steal, while Katharine Booher tallied two goals. Also adding to the offense was Avery Mosser, Claudia Ruiz, Brittany Westerman and Lauren Presant with one goal each.
