Providence, RI - Brown freshman middle blocker Danielle Vaughan (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Vaughan was the Bears' most consistent attacker over the weekend in a pair of Ivy wins, and was also the team's top blocker.
For the weekend, Vaughan averaged 3.22 kills per game to go with a team-high .426 hitting percentage. She also had a team high with seven total blocks.
On Friday in Brown's 3-1 win over Columbia, Vaughan set a career high with 16 kills, making just two errors on 26 attempts for a .538 hitting percentage. She also posted a match high with six total blocks. The following day, Vaughan helped contribute to the Bears' 3-2 comeback victory over Cornell by tying her previous career high of 13 kills and leading the team with a .321 hitting percentage (13-4-28).
This is Vaughan's second time being named Rookie of the Week, as she received the honor previously on Oct. 2. Fellow freshman Megan Toman (Newport Beach, CA) has also been named Rookie of the Week, on Sept. 11.
