Brown Goes 0-3 in New Hampshire Tournament

Brown senior Ceneca Calvert (Irvine, CA) records three double doubles in the University of New Hampshire Tournament. The Bears went 0-3 on the weekend loosing in second round action to St. Peters in five games 30-27, 20-30, 30-26, 26-30 and 10-15, and in third round action to Rutgers 30-27, 21-30, 23-30, and 28-30.

The Bears played St. Peters in morning action as Calvert had 12 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Karalyn Kuckenbecker (Los Angeles, CA) added 22 kills and eight digs against St. Peters as senior Jessie Cooper (Tustin, CA) contributed 11 kills and fellow freshman Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) connected on 14 kills. Kim Highlund (Newark, CA) had 19 digs and freshman Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) added 63 assists and 16 digs.

Brown went on to play Rutgers in an evening match that lasted four games. Calvert recorded ten kills and 18 digs as fellow senior Alexis Malepeai (Pocatello, ID) added 12 kills. Highlund and Angela Dunn (Anchorage, AK) combined for 33 digs as Cooper completed 11 kills in the final round of the tournament.

The Bears next action is this coming weekend in the Brown University Tournament. Brown will face Yale University in first round action at 7:00 p.m. Friday October 4th.
