Volleyball Falls to Yale, 3-1, in Final Match of the 2003 Season

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown volleyball team (4-18, 3-11) dropped a hard-fought battle to visiting Yale on Wednesday evening, falling to the Bulldogs (16-9, 8-6), 3-1. Individual game scores were 30-20, 30-28, 23-30, and 30-19. It was Brown's final match of the season and the final career match for seniors Kim Highlund (Newark, CA) and Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA).
The Bears were led by freshman Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX), who posted a team-high 20 kills. She also added eight digs and one block.
Sophomore Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) also notched double-digits in kills, posting 15 with one solo block in the match. The Bears' blocking game was led by freshman Jessica Kondrick (San Diego, CA), who posted five blocks, including one solo. She also added four kills and seven digs.
Defensively, Brown was led by Highlund, who notched 19 digs. Junior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) added 17 digs.
For Yale, Jana Freeman led the hitters with 21 kills and a .356 hitting percentage, and earned a double-double with 10 digs, while Jessica Kronstadt led the defense with 20 digs.
