Providence, RI - Entering the final weekend of the season, the Brown volleyball team (8-17, 4-9) dropped its Friday night match with Harvard, falling three games to none at the Pizzitola Center, 30-26, 32-30, 30-26.
After dropping the first game, the Bears nearly pulled it together near the end of the second game, forcing the Crimson to 32 points. In the third game, Bruno pulled things together a bit too late, coming back from a 13-point deficit at 24-11 to make it 28-26, a 15-4 run. However, it was again too late, as the Crimson's Kathryn McKinley put the next two points away to end the match.
Junior Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) led all players with 23 digs, followed by sophomore Lyndse Yess (Eugene, OR), who had 15. Joining that pair in double figures with 11 apiece were junior Rachel Lipman (San Diego, CA) and sophomore Natalie Meyers (Huntington Beach, CA). Offensively, senior Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) led the Bears with 14 kills. Junior Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) was solid at the net both offensively and defensively, tallying 10 kills and a .296 hitting percentage while finishing with seven blocks, five of which were solo. Senior co-captain Jessica Kondrick (San Diego, CA) had five blocks.
It will be Senior Day when the Bears take on Dartmouth at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Seniors Baldwin, Victoria Kasten (Norwalk, OH), Kondrick and co-captain Shawn-Elyse Tulac (Claremont, CA) will be honored on the court following their final match for the Bears.
