Brown Defeats Cornell

The Brown University Volleyball Team beat Cornell in four games as the seniors were honored after their last home match of the season. Five of the Bears saw their last match in the Pizzitola Gymnasium, Ceneca Calvert (Irvine, CA), Jessie Cooper (Tustin, CA), Angela Dunn (Katy, TX), Aneal Helms (Falbrook, CA), and Alexis Malepeai (Pocatello, ID).

The Bears won the first game 30-28, then fell to the Big Red 30-19 in the second game. But Brown battled back to win the final two games 30-25 and 30-28. Seniors Cooper and Dunn both accumulated 16 kills in the victory as freshman Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) added ten.

Defensively the Bears were lead by Calvert who recorded 14 digs. Junior Kim Highlund (Newark, CA) was second with 12 digs. Freshman Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) accumulated 46 set assists in the match.

Brown is now 10-13 overall and 6-5 in the Ivy League. The Bears will travel to Penn and Princeton this coming weekend November 15th and 16th and then will go on to Yale on the 20th for their final three matches on the year.
