Providence, RI - The Bears (10-12, 7-4) rallied late in game four to defeat the Tigers 33-31, giving Bruno the game and match. With the match tied at one game apiece, the Bears took over offensively, hitting a combined .425 in the third game to take a 2-1, lead over Princeton. Sophomore Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) had a tremendous game offensively, recording 20 kills for a .633 hitting percentage, fifth best in Brown volleyball history.
Senior setter Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) spread her 67 assists out evenly, as four Brown hitters recorded double-digit kills, led by junior Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) who posted 21. Junior Shawn Tulac (Claremont, CA) recorded her second consecutive double-double match, tallying 14 kills and 14 digs in the win. For the second game this weekend, senior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) took a pass from Martin and slammed it down to end the match. Gibbs finished with 12 kills in the afternoon,
Defensively sophomore Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL) led the Bears tallying 27 digs in the match. Martin also recorded her second double-double of the weekend posting 15 digs in the win. Up front for the Bears junior Jessica Kondrick (San Diego, CA) led the way, blocking six, while Mandolini-Trummel recorded five blocks in the four game match.
Brown will travel to Harvard on Friday, November 11, to take on the Crimson in a 7:00 PM Ivy League match-up.
