Bears' Comeback Falls Just Short in 3-2 Loss to Columbia

New York, NY - Despite being able to battle back from a 2-0 deficit and force a fifth game, the Brown volleyball team (8-13, 4-5) finally lost at Columbia, 3-2, Friday night. After losing the first two games, 30-18 and 30-28, the Bears came back to win games three and four, 33-31 and 30-27, before fighting the Lions all the way to 19-17 in the fifth game. During the match, senior Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) reached the 1,000-kill milestone, as she finished with 19 kills.
Leading the Bears defensively was Katie Lapinski (Niles, IL), who had 40 digs. Senior co-captain Shawn-Elyse Tulac (Claremont, CA) led Brown with 21 kills, followed by Baldwin's 19 and freshman Moira Gallagher (Tulsa, OK), who had 16 kills in her first major action of the season. Sophomore setter Natalie Meyers (Huntington Beach, CA) had 60 assists.
The Bears now travel to Cornell for a match Saturday at 4 p.m.
