Brown Drops Columbia in Volleyball

Oct. 27, 2001

The Bears dropped the first match, 30-20, but rallied back in the second, to tie the match at 1-1. Brown held off the Lions in the third game, winning 30-26. In the fourth and final game, the Bears survived a late rally by the Lions to secure the victory.

Brown's attack was impressive, with senior Corre Myer (Corona del Mar), guiding the way for her teammates. Four Bears recorded double figures in kills. Diane Schneider totaled 18 kills on the match, while Angela Dunn (Katy, TX) posted 16. Jessie Cooper (Tustin, CA) and Ceneca Calvert (Irvine, CA) recorded 11 apiece.

The Bears got it done on the defensive end, as Aneal Helms (Fallbrook, CA) recorded seven blocks. Angela Dunn posted five blocks, with two solos.

The win Saturday afternoon was the second consecutive win by the Bears. More importantly, it was the second consecutive Ivy victory. Brown travels to Harvard on Friday November 2 for a 7:00pm match against the Crimson.
