Volleyball Drops Hard Fought match to Harvard, 3-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown volleyball team (3-12, 2-5) lost a tenacious match against Harvard (6-12, 5-3) Saturday afternoon in the Pizzitola Center. Refocused after back-to-back victories, Brown was unable to cement their third consecutive win. The Bears came out on the offensive winning the first game, however, the Crimson battled back in the next three to secure a victory. Individual game scores were 30-22, 27-30, 23-30, and 24-30.

Dominating the court for the Brown Bears was junior Elvina Kung (Dix Hills, NY) who averaged 7 digs per game, recording a career-high of 28 digs for the match. Also having a stellar performance was senior Kim Highlund (Newark, CA) moved into third place on the Brown all-time career dig list with 1038.

Leading the Bears in kills was sophomore Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) who tallied 20 along with 3 blocks. Sophomore Karalyn Kuchenbecker (Los Angeles, CA), tallied her eighth season-high double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. Rounding out the offensive strength of the Bears was freshmen Liz Cvitan (Malibu, CA) who contributed 11 kills and 4 blocks. This is the ninth time this season Cvitan has had double-digit kills. Sophomore setter Leigh Martin notched 54 assists for the match, bringing her season total to 619.

The Bears will be back in action on Friday night, hosting defending Ivy champions Penn in a 7:00 p.m. Ivy League match.
