Volleyball Wins Second Ivy Match, Defeating Dartmouth, 3-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown volleyball team (3-11, 2-4) won its second Ivy match of the season on Friday evening, defeating visiting Dartmouth (7-9, 1-5), 3-1, in their first match back in the Pizzitola Center since September 27th. Individual game scores were 30-18, 31-29, 25-30, and 30-24.

The Bears were led by sophomore Karalyn Kuchenbecker (Los Angeles, CA), who tallied another double-double with a match-high 17 kills and a match-high19 digs. She also pitched in five service aces to add to her rapidly increasing total. Freshmen Liz Cvitan (Malibu, CA) and Rikki Baldwin (Magnolia, TX) each notched 13 kills with hitting percentages of .423 and .391 respectively, while Baldwin added five aces and five blocks. Sophomore Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) also reached double-digits in kills with 12 on a .259 hitting percentage, while adding give blocks.

Defensively, senior Kim Highlund added 14 digs and now needs just six more to move into fifth place all-time on the Brown career-dig list. , Sophomore setter Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) also posted a double-double with 13 digs and 51 assists.

The Bears will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Harvard in a 4:00 p.m. Ivy League match.
