Providence, RI - Senior Lauren Gibbs (Los Angeles, CA) led the way for the Bears recording 22 kills, earning a .474 hitting percentage in the 3-1 victory over Manhattan College. Brown dominated the first game getting a 30-9 win, but the Jaspers recovered and won the second 30-25. The Bears went on to win games three and four 30-26 and 30-28, giving them the match and avenged an early season loss to the Jaspers.
Senior setter Leigh Martin (Freelton, ONT) recorded a season high 61 assists while sophomore Julie Mandolini-Trummel (Crystal Lake, IL) and junior Shawn Tulac (Claremont, CA) each finished with 18 and 16 kills respectively.
Defensively sophomore Katie Lapinksi (Niles, IL) recorded 26 digs while classmate Lizzie Laundy (Evanston, IL) posted 12. Gibbs who was also a force defensively, finishing with a match high four blocks.
The Bears will wrap up the Brown Invitational when they face Stony Brook at 6:00 PM for the final match of the tournament.
