Brown Volleyball Goes Undefeated in Yale Invitational

Volleyball smothered all competition this weekend in the Yale Invitational in New Haven, CT. The Bears improved their record to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in Ivy League, with wins against Yale, Sacred Heart, and Iona.

The team opened the tournament with a victory over the host Yale Bulldogs 3-2 (30-23, 30-23, 30-21). The Bears controlled the match early on, behind junior Jessie Cooper (Tustin, CA) and junior Angela Dunn (Anchorage, AK) who each recorded 11 kills. Sophomore Diane Schneider (Saratoga, CA) had 14 digs in the match. This match was the team's first Ivy League contest of the season.

. The Sacred Heart match lasted 5 games, but the Bears proved victorious, 3-2 (26-30, 30-28, 30-21, 22-30, 15-5). Junior Jessie Cooper pounded 25 kills in the match, while Schneider had 18 kills and 17 digs. Angela Dunn totaled 13 kills and 14 digs.

In the final contest of the tournament, Brown defeated Iona in three games, (30-15, 30-22, 30-17). Leading the way for the Bears was Diane Schneider's 12 kills and 13 digs. Corre Myer posted 43 assists.

The team returns to action on Friday September 28 to participate in the University of Connecticut Invitational. In that tournament the Bears will take on Northeastern, St. Peter's, and Connecticut as opponents.
