Despite an injury-riddled playing career, Braun was a clutch hitter for the Rams, finishing second on the team with 370 kills in 1995. She finished with 780 kills in her career, and her match-high was 26 versus Mississippi State. A co-captain in 1995, she led the squad to a 30-8 record and a final four NIVC appearance. She was also named to the 1995 Rhode Island Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Her biggest strength as a player was hitting, having an inherent anticipation of blockers and the ability to hit the open spot. For the Bears, Braun assists Short with on-court coaching, recruiting, travel arrangements, and strength and conditioning; virtually every aspect of the program.
She graduated from URI in December 1996 with a degree in Physical Education. A native of Tonawanda, New York, Braun in single and resides in Cranston, Rhode Island. She continues to play competitively, as an open USVBA player.
