Brown Volleyball Announces Class of 2014

Providence, R.I. – The Brown volleyball team announced its Class of 2014 on Friday, as six talented players will join the promising nucleus already assembled in the Pizzitola Center.  All six newcomers hail from California, and it is a group that head coach Diane Short believes, “will add offensive firepower to our team, while giving us more depth.”

Thea Derrough

Coaches’ Take: “Fearsome hitter who has experience at all three offensive positions.  Her leaping abilities and her ability to put the ball away will excite fans in the future.”

 

Jackie Feiler

6’0”  MB

Los Angeles, CA / Harvard-Westlake HS (Sports Shack Volleyball Club)

Coaches’ Take: “A middle blocker who has continued to improve her skills at the position.  She will add much needed depth to this position.”

 

Savannah Holte

5’9”  Opp.

Laguna Beach, CA / St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Laguna Beach Volleyball Club)

Coaches’ Take: “Dynamic athlete who excels in both offense and defense.  She is exciting to watch with her superb ball control.”

 

Amanda Nickel

6’0”  Opp.

Corona Del Mar, CA / Corona Del Mar HS / Goldenwest Volleyball Club

Coaches’ Take: “Is a player who brings an excellent net presence to the team.  She hits the ball hard and blocks well.”

 

Emma Pastore

5’10”  OH

Los Angeles, CA / Marymount HS / Sunshine Volleyball Club

Coaches’ Take: “An outside hitter who hammers the ball and who has high volleyball intelligence to change her shot when necessary.”

Coaches’ Take: “Very athletic setter/hitter who has a competitive edge to her.”
