Brown dropped a tough 3-0 road match at Princeton on Friday night, as the Tigers put together one of their best matches of the season to pull off the sweep. The Bears were led by sophomore Spencer McAndrews, who had a nice all-around game with 13 assists, two digs, and two kills on just two attempts. With the loss, Brown falls to 5-13 on the season, and 1-7 in league play, while Princeton improves to 7-12 overall and 5-3 against the Ivy League.
In the first game, Princeton's offense found an immediate rhythm, hitting .400 for a team as the Tigers rolled to a 25-16 win in the opener. That game appeared to set the tone for the remainder of the match, as Princeton went on to 25-15 and 25-14 victories in the second and third sets, coming away with the 3-0 match win. Brown's defense, generally a strength this season, had some struggles against Princeton, as the Tigers hit .389 for the match.
Senior Ann Cowell took advantage of one of her longest appearances of the season, knocking in five kills in 13 attempts, while junior Brianna Williamson notched nine kills and six digs. Rookie libero Carly Cotton also added a team-high 13 defensive digs.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they take on the Penn Quakers at 4:00 p.m.
