Boston, MA - The Brown Women's Cross Country team had an extremely strong showing in its first competition of the season at Franklin Park over the weekend. The team was led by freshman Abby Hinds (Mountain Lakes, NJ) who placed second in the 5K course with a 19:03 in her collegiate debut.
The rest of the women's team finished well and showed great promise for the future, as freshman Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) finished the course in 19:30 for sixth place, sophomore Emily Bourdeau (Longmeadow, MA) took seventh with a 19:39, and freshman Lauren Pischel came in eighth (19.41). Freshman Caitlin Clark (Granite Bay, CA) came in 15th (20:12) and freshman Megan Fitzpatrick (Hopewell Valley, NJ) finished 16th (20:12).
The Brown women's team fell to BU (32-25), but defeated Harvard (18-41), Manhattan College (16-47), and Marist (16-47).
Up next, the Bears will compete at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday, Sept. 22.
