Bears Compete at ECAC Championship Meet

May 13, 2007

Princeton, NJ - The Bears took eight qualifying athletes to the IC4A/ECAC Championships this weekend at Princeton. The three-day competition gave some Bears a last chance to meet Regional-qualifying marks and allowed others to close their outdoor seasons with one more championship meet. Others who hit Regional standards earlier in the season opted not to compete.

Freshman Jenna Ridgway (Santa Barbara, CA) ran a 4:29.35 in the 1500 meter run, to place sixteenth in her first ECAC outdoor championships. Ridgway's time places her seventh on the Brown top ten performance list.

Sophomore Kristen Olds (Painsville, OH) placed sixth in the pole vault with a personal best 11-11.75 jump. Olds' jump places her fourth on the Brown top ten performance list.

Freshman Jasmine Chukwueke (San Diego, CA) raced the 400 meter run in 56.40 in her ECAC debut.

Sophomore Ali Mumford (Gresham, OR) competed in the javelin throw, with a best attempt of 115-06.

The 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA), junior Akilah King (Medford, MA), and seniors Cheryl Scott (Atco, NJ) and Lauren Hale (Warren, RI) had the eighth fastest qualifying time, running a time of 46.43.

Brown will take qualifying athletes to the NCAA Regional Championships in Gainesville, FL from May 25-26 where the Bears will compete to advance to NCAA Nationals.
