Women's Track and Field Places Second at UConn Invitational

Storrs, CT- Consistency was the word of the day for many of the Brown athletes competing at the University of Connecticut Invitational in Storrs, CT on April 17. Five other teams including URI and Boston University were in attendance. Five personal records were set in the 1500m alone, as well as strong performances from the triple jumpers led the way to a second place finish for the team.

Julia Stevenson '04 (Bowie, MD) won the 400m with a PR time of 55.31. Stevenson continues to improve her times after struggling with an injury during the indoor season. Senior Lauren Linder (Atlanta, GA) provided additional leadership with a win in the 200m (25.17) and third place in the 100m (12.22). Jaylon White '05 garnered additional points for Brown with her fourth place finish in the 100m. White also anchored the 4x100 relay team, which improved its time to 47.64. Fara Kitton '05 (Bellmore, NY) came through with a season best time of 14.68 in the 100-hurdles.

Kate Cushing '04 (Cranston, RI) placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.45. In the 1500m freshman Naja Ferjan (Ljubljan, Slovenia) captured first place, followed by teammate Julie Komosinski '04 (San Diego, CA) in fourth. Senior Caci Cambruzzi (Cincinnati, OH) debuted in the steeple chase and placed fifth with a time of 11:27.

Katie Rowinski '04 (Wakefield, RI) placed second in the high jump with at 5'7". Junior Ashley Wall (Ellicott City, MD) also recorded a personal best in the long jump today with a leap of 18'7". The triple jumpers had a great day, with Brittany Grovey '06 (Hobbs, NM), Brooke Wolfe '07 (Perkasie, PA), and Dominique Bosa-Edwards '05 (Las Vegas, NV) jumping 39'1", 37'4", and 37'1", respectively. This was Grovey's first triple jump competition of the outdoor season. Laura Dudek '07 (West Warren, MA) placed first in the javelin by throwing over 140' for the third week in a row (144'8").

The women return to competition at the Penn Relays on April 22 in Philadelphia.
