Women's Track Takes First At Brown Invitational

Providence, RI - The Brown women's track team placed first overall at its own Invitational at Brown Stadium on Saturday Apr. 12. The Bears finished the day with a score of 127. The University of Rhode Island finished second with 102 points and Syracuse rounded out the top three with 98.50 points.
Three athletes placed first and 13 finished in the top three for Brown. The 4x400 meter relay team also placed first with a time of 3:49.80.
Senior Keely Tharp (Roberts, WI) took first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.93, the fifth best time in Brown history.
Senior Lauren Contursi (Flemington, NJ) also placed first in the pole vault, clearing 12'00.00.
Freshman Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) took the top spot in the triple jump with a leap of 39'07.00, the third best jump in school history.
Sophomore Jill Lynch (Racine, WI) threw the third best throw in school history in the shot put. Lynch placed second with a throw of 44'06.75.
