Women's Track and Field Hosts Brown Invitational

Providence, RI- The women's track and field team competed against eight other teams at the Brown Invitational on April 10 on their home turf. The meet was highlighted by five individual wins and a team score of 179 points, outdistancing the second place team by 83.
Lauren Linder '04 (Atlanta, GA) led the way for the sprints team with wins in both the 100m and 200m dashes (12.59 and 25.23, respectively). The women gained another 10 points from sophomore Kelly Powell's (East Patchogue, NY) victory in the 400m. Powell ran 56.88, more than half a second ahead of her nearest competitor.
In the 800m, freshman Naja Ferjan (Ljubljan, Slovenia) came in third with a time of 2:11.38. Seniors Kate Cushing (Cranston, RI) and Caci Cambruzzi (Cincinnati, OH) pushed to 5th and 6th places in the 1500m, finishing with one second of each other. In the 5000m, sophomore Anya Davidson (Brunswick, ME) finished fifth with a time of 18:01.66 while Madeleine Marecki '07 ran a 40-second personal record.
Emily Lewis-LaMonica '06 (Lawrenceville, NJ) brought another win for Brown in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.03. Brown's 4x100 relay team also finished first in 47.75 seconds.
On the field, Katie Rowinski '04 (Wakefield, RI) tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m (5'5"). Dominique Bosa-Edwards '05 (Las Vegas, NV) and Brooke Wolfe '07 (Perkasie, PA) took second and third in the triple jump. Jill Lynch '05 (Racine, WI) continued her consistency in the throws, taking second in the shot put and third in the discus throw.
The women return to competition on April 16 at the University of Connecticut Invitational.
