Three Bears Earn First-Place Finishes at USATF New England Championships

Cambridge, MA - The women's indoor track & field team turned in four first-place finishes at the USATF New England Championships hosted by Harvard University on Sunday afternoon. The Bears had first-place finishes by junior Dianna Anderson (Verona, NJ) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.00), sophomore Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA) in the 60m dash (7.63) =, and senior Akilah King (Medford, MA) in both the triple jump (39-07.75) and long jump (18-05.75).

The Bears also had a stellar performance from freshman Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA), who placed second in the 60m hurdles (9.14) and also had a third-place performance in the high jump (5-04.50).

In the long jump, freshman Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) placed third with an 18-01.00, followed by Brooke Staton (16-06.00) and Alexandra Thomas (Baltimore, MD) with a 16-05.75. Biblo also took sixth place in the triple jump (36-03.50), while Staton picked up fifth in the triple jump.

Freshman Brynn Smith (Sace, ME) had a 51-06.50 in the weight throw for fifth place, while also turning in a 44-0-.50 in the shot put for third. Brown's Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) placed second in the shot put with a 45-06.25, and Shannon Stone (Mont Vernon, NH) took fourth in the triple jump (36-08.50).

Tiffany Chang (Lafayette, CA) was Bruno's top competitor in the pole vault, earning fourth with a 11-05.75. Keely Marsh (Annandale, NJ) followed behind in fifth (10-11.75) and Cassandra Wong (Ridgewood, NJ) in eighth was a 10-06.00.

Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) posted a 5-08.50 in the high jump for second place, while Anna Cook (Burlington, NJ) earned third place with a 5-04.50.

The Bears will now prepare for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday, March 1, at Cornell University.
