Women's Track And Field Competes At BU's FastTrack Invitational

Boston, MA-- The women's track and field team headed up to Boston this weekend to compete at Boston University's two-day Valentine's FastTrack Invitational. The annual invitational gives collegiate athletes an opportunity to compete against some of America's best, as the meet is not limited to NCAA athletes only.
In the sprints, senior Jaylon White (Minneapolis, MN) placed sixth in the 55m dash with a time of 7.38. In the 400m, sophomore Natasha Barrett (Miami, FL) took eighth with a time of 57.53. Senior Fara Kitton (Bellmore, NY) qualified for the finals in the 55mH and finished seventh overall with a time of 8.43. Brown's 4x400m relay team (Barrett, Kitton, Kelly Powell '06 (East Patchogue, NY), Naja Ferjan '07 (Ljubljana, Slovenia)) posted their best time of the season in their third place finish with a time of 3:50.31.
In the 800m, co-captain Powell set a personal record with a time of 2:12.46, good for eighth place overall. In the mile run, Brown had nine starters. Freshman Alex Brown (Kingston, NY) came in first for the Bears with a time of 5:06.88. Right behind her was sophomore Michol Monaghan (Uniontown, PA) in 5:07.37. Also finishing for Bruno were seniors Julie Komosinski (San Diego, CA) and Emma Sarro (Chatham, NY), junior Annie Hatch (Tacoma, WA), sophomore Kathleen Loughlin (Portland, OR), and freshmen Becky Crossin (Annandale, NJ) and Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK). Monaghan, Loughlin, Komosinski, and Sarro also competed in the 3000m. Monaghan set a personal record in this event with a time of 10:02.40. Loughlin also had a good race, coming in with a time of 10:20.71.
On the field, senior Ashley Wall (Ellicott City, MD) placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.63m (5'4.25"). Wall also competed in the long jump. In the pole vault, freshman Tiffany Chang (Lafeytte, CA) took seventh with a vault of 3.36m (11'0.25"). Junior Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) won the triple jump with a leap of 12.21m (40'0.75"), further lengthening her lead over the rest of the Ivy League in the standings. Senior Dominique Bosa-Edwards (Las Vegas, NV) also competed in the triple jump. Co-captain Jill Lynch (Racine, WI) took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.43m (44'0.75"). Lynch is currently second in the league. Sophomore Laura Dudek (West Warren, MA) placed twelfth. In the weight throw, senior Jennifer Donahue (Winter Park, FL) captured sixth place (15.83m/51'11.25").
The team competes next at the New England Championships on February 20 in Cambridge, MA.
