Boston, MA - The Brown women's track & field team competed at Boston University's Valentine Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Bears were led by Thelma Breezeatl's second and third place finishes in the 55-meter dash and 200m dash, respectively, and Nicole Burm's title in the 400.
Brown's Akilah King had a solid third-place performance in the 200m with a 24.80, as Lucy Higgins (26.00) and Natasha Smith (26.82) followed behind. Higgins also garnered ninth place in the 400m with a 57.09, and Jasmine Chukwueke crossed the line at 57.55 for 15th.
Kesley Ramsey posted a 4:59.06 in the one mile run, and Samantha Adelberg was Brown's top finisher in the 800m with a third-place finish in 2:11.98. Following behind was Ramsey (2:16.58) and Laura Armstrong (2:17.00).
In the 1,000m, Michaeline Nelson came in ninth with a 2:59.76, as Smita Gupta finished in fourth in the 3,000m with a 9:30.28. Ariel Wright led Bruno in the 5,000m with a 16:49.41 for third, while Lauren Pischel came in nith with a 17:23.22. Smith finished in 12th in the 55m hurdles (8.65), while Brown "A" came in second place in the 1,600m relay with a 3:45.19.
The high jump was led by Grace Watson's 11th place finish (5-06.00), followed by Anna Cook's 5-04.25. Taking eighth in the pole vault was Tiffany Chang (11-03.75), with Cassandra Wong (10-10) and Kristen Olds (10-10) each earning 16th. Rachel Bilbo turned in a strong performance in the long jump, earning third place with her 17-10.75 leap. Danielle Grunloh picked up fourth place in the shot put (44-02.00), followed by Brynn Smith (42-04.00) in eighth.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, February 16, at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire.
