Women's Track & Field Competes At Armory's Collegiate Invitational

New York, NY-- The women's track & field team completed their second day of competition at the Armory Track's Collegiate Invitational today in New York City. Highlighting the day were strong performances from senior co-captain Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) in the triple jump, junior Naja Ferjan (Ljubljana, Slovenia) in the mile, and the 4x400 relay team.

Grovey placed third overall in the championship triple jump competition with a leap of 12.78m.

Ferjan placed tenth overall and second in her heat in the women's championship mile with a time of 4:55.3.

In the 5000m, senior Anya Davidson (Brunswick, ME) set a one-second indoor PR with her time of 17:14.59. Junior Michol Monaghan (Uniontown, PA) was 24th (17:36.57).

The Bears' mile relay team (King, Kelly Powell (East Patchogue, NY) '06, Ferjan, Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) '09) placed seventh overall and second in their heat with a time of 3:50.68.

Today concludes competition at the Armory. The Bears will return to action next weekend at Boston University's St. Valentine's Invitational.
