Day One At Armory's Collegiate Invitational

New York, NY-- Select members of the women's track & field team traveled to New York City this weekend to compete at the Armory Track's annual Collegiate Invitational. Highlighting the first day of competition for the Bears was a second place finish in the 3000m by senior Anna Willard. In a tight finish, Willard (Greenwood, ME) placed second overall with a time of 9:44.94, less than one second behind the winner.

In the pole vault, sophomore Tiffany Chang (Lafeyette, CA) placed third overall, clearing a height of 3.45m. Junior Janea Russ (El Cajon, CA) was part of a five-way tie for seventh at 3.30m.

Senior co-captain Brittany Grovey (Hobbs, NM) placed 21st overall in the college long jump (5.38m).

Freshman Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) won her heat of the 400m by one second (58.09).

Competition continues tomorrow. The Bears have competitors entered in the triple jump, mile, 200m, 5000m, and mile relay.
