Cambridge, MA - The Brown women's track & field team placed second at the Harvard Select Meet held on Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Indoor Track. Winning the meet title was Cornell with 181 points, followed by the Bears (115), Harvard (95) and New Hampshire (65).
The Bears had a strong showing on Saturday, and had three student-athletes earn titles in their respective events. Senior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) earned the 400m dash title with a 55.53, and also placed second in the 200m with a 25.29. Sophomore Samantha Adelberg (Washington, DC) dominated the 800m with a 2:10.29 to qualify for the ECAC's, and freshman Roseanne Fleming followed behind in second with a 2:14.89. Freshman Galia Dietz crossed the line in 2:16.49 for fourth place, while Emily Mepham (Sudbury, MA) finished with a 2:18.49 for eighth place.
Sophomore Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) came in second two seconds behind Hilary May from Harvard with a 5:00.59 in the one mile run, and freshman Ari Garber (North Falmouth, MA) finished with a 5:08.34. Freshman Brianna Rogers (Moorestown, NJ) led Brown in the 3,000m run with a 10:52.91 for ninth, and freshman Susan Scavone finished in fifth place in the 60m hurdles in 9.04.
In the field, Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) led the Bears with a shot put title, tossing 14.76m, while Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) followed with a 13.73m throw for second place. Smith also tallied a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a 14.93m. Also earning a solid finish in the shot put was Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA), who earned fourth place with a 11.70m.
Sophomore Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) earned two fourth-place finishes, the first in the long jump with a leap of 5.46m, and the other came in the triple jump with an 11.23m. In the high jump, sophomore Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) earned second place with a 1.70m to qualify for the ECAC's, and Anna Cook (Burlington, NJ) followed behind with a 1.55m jump to place fourth.
