Boston, MA - The Brown women's track & field team had some strong performances during the Terrier Invitational at the BU Track and Tennis Center this weekend. Sophomore Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) earned Bruno's top finish of the day placing second in the shot put with a toss of 14.71m, followed by a third-place finish in the 500m dash by senior Nicole Burns (Newburgh, NY) with a time of 1:13.92.
Junior Thelma Breezeatl (Manassas, VA) clocked a 7.19 in the 55m dash for fifth place, and then finished in eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.97. Burns also ran in the 200m dash, following behind with a 25.09 for 11th place.
Sophomore Lucy Higgins (Jeffersonvile, VT) earned a 1:15.89 in the 500m for eighth place, and sophomore Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) earned Bruno's top finish in the 800m with a 2:15.75 for ninth. Following right behind was freshman Emily Mepham (Sudbury, MA) with a 2:15.66 for 12th, and sophomore Caroline Scanlan (Hillsborough, CA) crossed the line in 2:17.23 for 16th place.
In the high jump, sophomore Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) posted the 10th best jump with a 1.65m, as Anja Hergrueter (Newton, MA) placed 15th with a 1.55m. Leading Brown's pole vault was junior Cassandra Wong (Ridgewood, NJ) with a 3.20m, for 11th, as sophomore Rachel Biblo (Thiensville, WI) turned in a 11.40m in the triple jump for seventh place.
Following Brynn Smith in the shot put was junior Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL) with a 14.03m for fourth place, as sophomore Natasha Smith (Gloucester, MA) posted a 11.37m for 17th. Brynn Smith also secured 12th place in the weight throw with a 14.43m, while senior Molly Hawksley (Rumford, RI) tossed a 13.89 for 15th place.
The Brown track & field squad will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it competes at Harvard with Cornell.
