Women's Indoor Track Team Places Third at Sorlein Track Invitational

Kingstown, RI - Led by first-place finishes by freshman Kesley Ramsey's (Franklin Lakes, NJ) in the 800-meter run, and senior Tiffany Chang (Lafayette, CA) in the pole vault, the Brown women's indoor track squad placed third in the Sorlein Invitational at the University of Rhode Island with a total of 134 points.
In the track events, Ramsey's 2:14.55 in the 800m was Brown's first of just three first-place finishes of the day. Freshman Michaeline Nelson (McLean, VA) turned in a third place finish in the event with a 2:17.30, as sophomore Laura Armstrong (Louisiville, KY) finished in fourth with a 2:17.98.
The 55m dash was highlighted by sophomore Thelma Breezeatl's (Manassas, VA) 7.17 finish for fifth place, followed by senior Akilah King's (Medford, MA) 7.20 for sixth place. King also took a second place finish in the triple jump (40-11.00).
Freshman Amanda Filiberto (Northport, NY) was Brown's top finisher in the 500m with a 1:21.49 for eighth place. Senior Smita Gupta (Tulsa, OK) and freshman Samantha Adelberg (Washington, D.C.) placed second and third, respectively, in the 1,000m run with a 2:54.48 and a 2:56.21. In the 55m hurdles, junior Dianna Anderson (Verona, NJ) earned a solid fourth-place finish with an 8.48.
In the relays, Brown "A" finished in first in the 3,200 (9:23.15), while also earning second in the 1,600 with a 3:55.40.
In the field events, Chang took the pole vault title (11-09.75). Following right behind her was sophomore Cassandra Wong (Ridgewood, NJ) in second place (10-06) in the pole vault. Freshman Grace Watson (Belmont, MA) finished in third in the high jump (5-07).
Brown's best finish in the long jump was earned by senior Alexandra Thomas (Baltimore, MD), as she took fifth place (4.96m), and sophomore Shannon Stone (Mont Vernon, NH) took third in the triple jump (11.14m). Freshman Brynn Smith (Sace, ME) finished in fifth (14.43m) in the weight throw, as junior Molly Hawksley (Rumford, RI) followed right behind for sixth place.
Brown will next compete at the Harvard Select Invitational on January 26th in Cambridge, MA.
