Position: Assistant Coach, Sprints & Hurdles
Years at Brown: 6th Year

George Evans enters his sixth year at Brown as the coach of the men's and women's sprinters and hurdlers. During his time with the Bears, the men's and women's sprinters and hurdlers have seen tremendous success, qualifying over 30 runners to the ECAC/IC4A Championships, seven sprinters to the NCAA East Regional Qualifying Round, and one NCAA provisional qualifier. During Evans' tenure, six athletes have also established Brown University records in the sprint and hurdle events (men's 60m, 60HH, 110HH / women's 60m, 100m, 200m).

Highlights include Nicole Burns '09 becoming the third woman in Ivy League history to win three indoor conference titles at 400m (2007-09). In 2007, Paul Raymond '08 and Thelma Breezeatl '10 became the second set of teammates in history to win the Ivy League 60-meter dash crowns in the same season.

Prior to Brown, Evans served as the sprints/hurdles coach at Youngstown State University in Ohio for one year. In 2005, the YSU women's squad won both the indoor and outdoor Horizon League Championship under Evans' tutelage. The sprints squad combined for four Horizon League records (60m, 60HH, 200, 4 x 400m relay) and five university records en route to claiming the winner in every sprint event held at the indoor conference meet.

As an undergraduate, Evans was a two-sport athlete at Lehigh University where he participated in both football and track and field. He was a two-time Patriot League Champion at 60m and 200m and was named Athlete of the Year at Lehigh his senior year in 2004. He holds six Lehigh sprint records and was a member of the 2001 football team that finished 11-0 and won the Lambert Cup as the best team in Division 1AA on the east coast.
