Before Brown: A four-year letter winner in cross country and track & field at Newton South High School … A two-time National Champion (first place in the 4-by-mile at 2009 Indoor & Outdoor Nationals) competing for Newton Centre Athletics and a six-time All-American selection … Also placed second in the 4x800 at Indoor Nationals, fourth in the sprint medley relay, fifth in the New Balance Nationals … A 2010 Division I State Champion in the mile and a two-time Dual County League Champion in the two-mile and the mile …Team captain during her senior year and was a Dual County League All-Star selection 11 times, as well as the recipient of the Robert Chrusz Dual County League Sportsmanship Award ... Also received the 100% Award and the Norm Levine Track & Field Award in during her senior year ... Competed in 11 Division I state meets, nine All-State meets, two New England meets, two Northeast Regional Championship meets, and seven National meets while attending Newton South.

Personal: Melanie N. Fineman is the daughter of David and Peggy Fineman of Newton, Massachusetts … She has a younger sister, Elizabeth, and a younger brother, Robby ... An Honor Roll student for all four years and a two-time recipient of the Spanish award at Newton South High School … Also enjoys doing community service, reading, and writing.
